马绍尔群岛共和国驻华大使馆：
中华人民共和国外交部向马绍尔群岛共和国驻华大使馆致意，并荣幸地收到大使馆一九九七年四月二十八日第Ｄ1－041／97号来照，内容如下：
“马绍尔群岛共和国大使馆向中华人民共和国外交部致意并谨代表马绍尔群岛共和国政府确认，为了发展两国的友好关系，促进马绍尔群岛共和国和中华人民共和国香港特别行政区之间的经济和贸易的发展，便利人员往来，双方通过友好协商，就马绍尔群岛共和国和中华人民共和国香港特别行政区之间的互免签证问题达成协议如下：
一、马绍尔群岛共和国公民持有效的马绍尔群岛共和国护照（包括使用同一本护照的偕行人）短期旅行入、出或途经中华人民共和国香港特别行政区，停留十四天内免办签证；中华人民共和国公民持有效的中华人民共和国香港特别行政区护照短期旅行入、出或途经马绍尔群岛共和国，停留十四天内免办签证。
二、本协议第一条所述马绍尔群岛共和国公民和中华人民共和国公民，在对方境内逗留期间，应遵守其有关法律和规章。
本协议第一条所述马绍尔群岛共和国公民和中华人民共和国公民，如在对方境内逾免签期限，应依照对方主管机关的规定办理有关手续。
三、协议双方应当自本协议生效之日前通过外交途径交换本协定第一条所述护照样本。
协议一方如更新上述护照式样，应当提前三十日通过外交途径通知缔约另一方，并提供新护照样本。
上述内容，如蒙中华人民共和国外交部代表中华人民共和国政府复照确认，本照会和外交部的复照即构成两国政府间的一项协议，并自一九九七年七月一日起生效。”
外交部谨代表中华人民共和国政府确认，同意上述照会内容。

The Embassy of the Republic of the Marshall Islands presents itscompliments to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic ofChina and,on behalf of the Government of the Republic of the MarshallIslands, has the honor to confirm that the two sides, with a view todeveloping friendly relations between the two countries, promoting tradeand economic development and facilitating personnel exchanges between theRepublic of the Marshall Islands and the Hong Kong Special AdministrativeRegion of the People's Republic of China, have through friendlyconsultations, reached agreement on mutual exemption of visa requirementsbetween the Republic of the Marshall Islands and the Hong Kong SpecialAdministrative Region of the People's Republic of China as follows:
1. Citizens of the Republic of the Marshall Islands, who hold thevalid passports of the Republic of the Marshall Islands (including theaccompanying persons who share the same passports), shall be exempted fromthe visa requirements within 14 days for entry into, exit from or transitthrough the territory of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region ofthe People's Republic of China as visitors; Citizens of the People'sRepublic of China who hold valid passports of the Hong Kong SpecialAdministrative Region of the People's Republic of China, shall be exemptedfrom visa requirements within 14 days for entry into, exit from or transitthrough the territory of the Republic of the Marshall Islands as visitors.
2. The citizens of the Republic of the Marshall Islands and thecitizens of the People's Republic of China referred to in Article I shallabide by therelevant laws and regulations of the other Contracting Partyduring their stay in its territory.
The citizens of the Republic of the Marshall Islands and the citizensof the People's Republic of China referred to in Article I shall gothrough the relevant procedures in accordance with the regulations of thecompetent authorities of the other Party for stay in its territory if sucha stay would exceed the valid period of visa exemption.
3. The two Parties shall complete the exchange of samples of theirpassports referred to in Article I before this Agreement comes into effectthrough diplomatic channels.
Either Party, in case of any change of the forms of the saidpassports, shall inform the other Party, through diplomatic channels, 30days in advanceand furnish it with samples of new passports.
If the above points receive the confirmation of the Ministry ofForeign Affairs of the People's Republic of China in a note in reply madeon behalf ofthe Government of the People's republic of China, this noteand the return note from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs shall form anagreement between the two Governments and shall enter into force on 1 July1997.
The Embassy of the Republic of the Marshall Islands avails itself ofthis opportunity to renew to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of thePeople's Republic of China the assurances of its highest consideration.
